Shutterfly's Address Book organizes contact information for easy mailing of prints, cards, and more. To access, log in to the Shutterfly website, click 'Hi, (Your Name)' at the top, and select 'Address Book'. Contacts can be manually added or imported via CSV.

Helpful Tips
- The following fields are required for addressing: Last Name or Display/Household Name, Address Line, City, State, Postal Code, and Country.
- Recipients/addresses can only be added to the Address Book when signed into an account.
- When importing via CSV Template, use the template found below for best results, as all other file types won't work.
- Avoid using commas or periods, as the importer is unable to process these.

Manually Add Contacts to the Address Book
- Click '+ Add New Address' within the Address Book, Enter contact information, and Click 'Save Address' or 'Save and Add Another'.
Edit or Delete Contacts
Edit/Update Contacts
- Hover over the contact and Click the pencil icon to edit.

- Update the necessary information and Click 'Save.'

Delete Contact
- Hover over the contact and Click the trash bin icon.
- Contact labeled 'Self' is unable to be deleted, only edited.
- A pop-up window will ask to confirm 'Delete selected contacts.'
- Click 'Delete Address' to delete the contact or Click Cancel to return to the Address Book.
Import From a CSV
Follow the steps below to import contacts into the Address Book after signing in to the Shutterfly account.
- If importing using CSV, be sure to download a copy of the template and move all contacts onto it before importing the spreadsheet to Shutterfly.
- Sign into the Shutterfly account, Click 'Hi, (Your Name)', and Click 'Address Book'.
- Click '+ Add new address' and Click 'Import addresses'.
- Click 'Download CSV spreadsheet' before importing contacts.

- Copy and Paste contacts and addresses into the saved spreadsheet ensuring the column names match the information entered.

- Save the spreadsheet.
- Click 'Import Spreadsheet', Select the file, and Click 'Open'.
- Verify any addresses, if needed, and Click 'Use Selected Addresses'.

- A confirmation will advise the success of the imported addresses.
Importing Contacts From a CSV File Tips
- For optimal results, use the template provided.
- Other file types aren's supported.
- Before importing, review the following guidelines to ensure compatibility:
- Column headers must match the template exactly, as the data is mapped by column.
- Street names can be spelled out or abbreviated.
- Avoid blank rows between entries.
- Each row must include at least one of the following: name, mailing address, or email address.
- The following characters are accepted: commas (,), ampersands (&), pound signs (#), periods (.), and apostrophes (').
- Don't use special characters such as:

- NOTE: This isn't a complete list of unsupported characters, only a sample.
- Required fields for addressing include: Last Name or Display/Household Name, Address Line, City, State, Postal Code, and Country.
Request Contact Info
- Click 'Hi, (Your Name) and Select 'Address Book' within the Shutterfly account.

- Click 'Add New Address' and Click 'Request Addresses'.

- Click 'Copy Link' and Share with anyone to have the address automatically added to the Address Book once the information is provided.
Display/Household Name
- The Display/Household Name is useful when sending products to a family rather than an individual or when using the Mail Cards For Me service.
- Edit/add this name in the Shutterfly Address Book.
- Enter a Display/Household Name in the designated box and Click 'Use Display Name' to apply this name on cards, invites, etc., instead of an individual name.

- Click 'Save'.
- This name will now be used for addressing cards, invites, etc. instead of the recipient's first and last name.
Exporting Contacts From Mac Contacts
- Open the Applications menu.
- Choose Contacts.
- Select the desired contact list, such as All Contacts.
- Select File, Export and Select Export vCard from the Contacts menu.
- Name and Save the exported list of contacts to the Mac.
- The file will be in vCard (.vcf) format, and will need to be converted to .csv to be imported to Shutterfly.
- To convert the file, use a .vcf to .csv converter.
- There are various free third-party converters available online by searching for "vcard to csv converter".
- Shutterfly doesn't endorse or recommend any particular converter.
- Once the file is in .csv format, import the addresses into the Shutterfly address book.
Troubleshooting Tips
- When encountering error messages during import, look for contacts with red highlights to identify issues.
- Incorrect or unrecognizable addresses can cause errors in the import.
- Examples:
- City and Zip Code Mismatch
- Invalid Street Numbers
- Incomplete or Misspelled Street, City, or Zip
- Incorrect State Abbreviations
- First Name and Last Name OR Display/Household Name
- One or the other is required, but both can be added.
- Address Line 2
- Prints on the same line as Address Line 1 on envelopes.
- Postal Code
- Ensure the spreadsheet program hasn't removed leading zeros from the zip codes.
- If using Excel, select the "Postal Code" column and follow these steps:
- Right-click and Select "Format Cells".
- Click the "Number" tab.
- Select "Category: Special".
- Choose "Type: Zip Code".
- Click "OK".
- State
- Use abbreviated state codes.
- Country
- US and international addresses are supported.
- For long entries, adjusting the font size can help fit the text.
- For more than 5000 recipients, contact the Customer Care team for support.
- The following fields are required to save an address to the Shutterfly Address Book:
- First & Last Name or Display/Household Name

- City
- State
- Postal Code
- Country
Address Book Tips
- Use "The (Enter Last Name)" for Display/Household Name.
- Example: The Johnsons or The Johnson Family
- The Post Office requires a street address.
- Address Line 2 will print on the same line as Address 1.
- For east coast zip codes beginning with "0," format the spreadsheet column as text.
- Foreign addresses will print correctly.
