Make My Book is a service to provide assistance with making a Photo Book. Shutterfly will design and create a Photo Book based on your specifications. Once the book is completed, a preview will be sent and additional changes can be made prior to ordering, if desired.

FAQs
How long will it take to make the Photo Book?
- The new Photo Book will be placed in the account within approximately 24 hours of submitting a Make My Book service request; some restrictions apply.
- Timing Exclusions: Projects submitted to a designer between 11:59pm PT on Friday and 11:59pm PT on Sunday will be returned by Tuesday at 10:00am PT.
- Please expect a 3-day delay for projects submitted on Jan 29, Feb 20, Feb 27, May 6, June 10, July 4, Jul 26, Sep 22, Oct 1, Nov 10, Dec 16, 2025.
- An email notification will also be sent once the book is ready.
What needs to be provided to get started?
- See the Make My Book Walkthrough section below.
- There are some instances in which the designers will be unable to design a book.
- Example: If the selected photos are subject to copyright, deemed incoherent (i.e. seemingly random in nature, no date information), or offensive in nature (per Shutterfly's Terms & Conditions), a notification email will be sent.
Can photos be used that are not in a Shutterfly account?
- Yes, photos can be selected from a Shutterfly account, Lifetouch, or a computer.
- Photos added from a computer will be uploaded to the Timeline in 'My Photos' within the Shutterfly account.
- The Make My Album service doesn't currently support Facebook, Instagram, or Flickr.
- To use pictures from these sources, upload photos to the Shutterfly account and select photos within the request.
- Alternatively, these images can be added after the book has been completed and saved as a Project to the account.
How many photos can be added to a book?
- The minimum number of photos for a book through the Make My Book service is 20 and the maximum is 800.
What exactly does the Make My Book service do with the photos?
- Designers will take the selected photos and design a custom photo book that best fits the photos and story based on the information provided.
- Any unused photos will be left in the photo tray.
- The photo book can be edited or further personalized after it has been saved to the account.
How much does the Make My Book® Service cost?
- This service is completely free.
How to cancel a Make My Book order?
- A Make My Book order can be canceled by calling Shutterfly's Customer Care Team.
- The service is free, and there is no obligation to purchase the created album.
- If the order is unable to be canceled (or contact with Shutterfly isn't desired), delete the photo book after it is placed in the account.
- The photo book can be edited before ordering, to allow any changes desired.
Can multiple books be made with the Make My Book service?
- Absolutely! Simply submit a new request for each book.
Can promotions be used?
- Absolutely, but please plan ahead! Promotions are unable to be extended if they expire while in the Make My Book design process.
Can a Make My Book request be submitted using the Shutterfly app?
- Yes, a Make My Book Request can be submitted using the Shutterfly app.
- Please Note: Once the book is complete, the book can only be edited from a desktop or laptop through the Shutterfly website.
Make My Book Request Walkthrough
- Sign in to Shutterfly, Click on 'Photo Books' on the tab at the top of the screen, and Click on 'Free 24-Hour Designer Service'.

- Click 'Get Started'.

- Click on the desired Photo Book Style.

- Click the desired Book Size, Cover Type, Page Type, and if Professional 6 Color Printing is desired, and Click 'Next'.

- Select where to upload photos from: Shutterfly, Upload Photos (from device), Upload From Phone, Amazon Photos, Google Photos, or Facebook.

- Select desired photos and Click 'Add To Project'.

- Select which photos to use and Click 'Next'.
- Best Photos: The best photos will be chosen.
- Most Photos: Most of the photos will be used except duplicates and similar photos.
- All Photos: All Photos will be used.

- Select how many photos are desired per page and Click 'Next'.
- An approximate number of pages will also be shown based on how many photos are desired per page.

- Select how many stickers are desired per page and Click 'Next'.

- Click 'Review & Submit' once all desired photos are selected.

- Review book selections, Add the Title of the Book, Subtitle (Optional), and any additional details, and Click 'Submit to Designers'.
